Zago, Jungle Prince in "The Iron Army" (Fox Feature Syndicate;1948)

It's been two years since Zago, Jungle Prince appeared in the Catacombs and this tale (like yesterdays Fantomah strip) narrowly missed being posted during my Halloween celebration, but that's no reason to hold it back any further.

Zago was yet another white jungle adventurer, like the more popular Tarzan and he was usually accompanied by his mate Wana, who bore more than a passing resemblance to Sheena (except Sheena was a blond).

His brief golden age series lasted until issue #4 (March 1949). The Zago stories are attributed to Jack Kamen on interiors and Matt Baker on covers. Despite the "Jim Landish" signature "The Iron Army" looks like Kamen's work and is from Zago, Jungle Prince #1 (Sept. 1948).

The Catacombs is grateful to Don "Zu-Gogo" Falkos for providing the scans for this story. Note: The copyright for this issue, its contents and artwork belong to the original publisher and/or the creators and is reproduced here solely for entertainment purposes.

Enjoy!
